The City of Springfield is looking for a Department Safety Coordinator to join our team and support BOTH the Environmental Services and Public Works departments. In this role, you'll lead safety initiatives that protect our employees and the public, help shape policies and support a strong safety culture. You'll work closely with a dedicated team across departments, conduct workplace safety reviews, deliver impactful training, and provide hands-on guidance to supervisors and staff.
Environmental Services and Public Works are out in the field every day delivering services that truly matter — whether it’s clean water, solid waste, street maintenance, or stormwater management. As Safety Coordinator, your role is to help these teams do their essential work safely. This is your chance to step into a position where you can see the impact of your work every day and support the people who keep our city running strong.
- Graduation from a four year accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Safety Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Safety or a related discipline;
- Two years of experience in corporate or public safety management functions;
- Experience must be commensurate with department specialty for current vacancy;
- Directly related work experience may be substituted for the formal education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Licensing/Certification
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
