Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Development:
- Plan, organize, and oversee daily camp activities, special events, and recreational programming that promote social, emotional, and physical development.
- Ensure programs are age-appropriate, engaging, and aligned with camp goals.
- Incorporate camper feedback and industry best practices to enhance the program experience.
- Assist in recruitment, hiring, training, and supervising camp counselors and support staff.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development for staff.
- Lead daily staff meetings to coordinate schedules, address challenges, and foster teamwork.
- Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of all campers and staff.
- Monitor camper behavior and manage incidents, including behavioral issues and emergencies, with proper documentation and parent communication.
- Maintain awareness of environmental and physical safety conditions.
- Manage camp logistics, including scheduling, supplies inventory, and daily operations.
- Maintain accurate records for attendance, incident reports, and program evaluations.
- Assist with budget tracking and resource allocation to ensure efficient camp operations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, addressing concerns and providing updates.
- Communicate camp policies, daily schedules, and special events through emails and newsletters.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners and vendors.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation, Child Development, related field (preferred), or previous experience as a summer day camp director.
- Previous experience in camp management, youth programs, or educational leadership.
- Proven leadership and staff supervision experience.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and risk management best practices for youth programs.
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before the start date).
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Must pass a background check.
