Summer Art & Science Camp Counselor
At Finch Arboretum
The Camp Counselor will assist the Lead Camp Instructor for the nature-based art and science camp programs for ages 7–12-year-old. Camps will be held Monday through Friday 9am-4pm June 22- August 21, No camp the week of 4th of July 2026. The counselor should have a background in working with youth in a recreation or nature activity or camp setting. The camp counselor works under the supervision of the ArtSci Lead Camp Instructor. The counselor is responsible for assisting in the supervision of participants, providing them with a healthy, safe, and enjoyable camp environment and experience. Candidates should have the desire to inspire and empower young people. They also should be dynamic communicators, detail oriented, fun-loving, and confident in their ability to motivate campers.
Activities may include nature based and fine art projects and activities, environmental learning and awareness, water quality, tree identification, weather, flora and fauna of the area, bird watching, active group and team building activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend trainings prior to camp. Training Dates 6/15-6/18.
- Follow camp safety policy and procedures.
- Work as team to organize class project prep.
- Set-up & clean-up each day. Transition to and from scheduled events and lessons.
- Manage behavior and interpersonal conflicts.
- Communication with supervisor, staff, participants, and parents.
- Housekeeping to include classroom clean up, vacuuming, sweeping & restocking supplies.
- Additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to work up to 8 hours/day outdoors in summer weather.
Other skills desirable
- Leadership.
- Youth development.
- Recreation management.
- Previous experience working at summer day camps.
- CPR/1st Aid preferred and training will be provided.
- Excellent communication skills.
