Description
The purpose of this position is to assist in managing federal grants including applications, reviews, monitoring, budgets, reports for the City of Spartanburg and is responsible for education and outreach. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Examples of Duties
- Manages federal grants
- Provides fair housing support and guidance
- Writes grants proposals for funding departmental or other city projects
- Coordinates and implements citizens' participation for special projects
- Establishes and implements citizens feedback methods such as questionnaires, etc.
- Assists in making referrals for neighborhoods involved in improvement action plans
- Generates computer reports, scheduling, and other documents
- Attends required public gatherings when needed
- Makes public presentations
- Maintains financial records of project activities
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal procurement laws and regulations
- Receives and handles complaints, providing assistance, information, and solutions as needed
Typical Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Four years of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Strong Microsoft Word and Excel competency
- Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis
- Requires the ability to evaluate, audit, deduce and/or assess data using established criteria
- Exceptional analytical, problem solving and reporting accuracy
