The City of South Portland, is currently seeking a Parks Maintainer to join the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Team. This position is a full time, year-round, benefits-eligible, Union position with a rich benefits package.
Position Summary: The Parks Maintainer performs a variety of semi-skilled, and operational work in the construction, repair and maintenance of parks, athletic fields, recreational facilities and various City buildings and grounds. Works under the general guidance and direction of the Park Foreperson, Parks Operations Manager, Recreation Manager, or their designee.
Education and Experience: Must possess a high school diploma or GED and two years of post secondary education in a job-related field; or a high school diploma or GED and three (3) years of prior work experience in the Parks, Sports fields, grounds maintenance or construction trades.
State of Maine First Class Landscape Arborists License, or the ability to obtain within the first eighteen (18) months of employment.
Must possess and maintain a valid Maine Class “B” driver’s license, or the ability to obtain within the first six (6) months of employment
