The City of South Lake Tahoe’s Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and energetic individual to join our team as a part-time Recreation Program Coordinator. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of youth, adult, and community programs throughout the year including weekly classes, seasonal leagues, and special events.
The coordinator’s responsibilities include coordinating a variety of programs including Mini Mountain Movers, Sunday Craft Afternoons, Adult and Youth Leagues, Tiny Tots Sports and additional programming as assigned. Duties also include scheduling, program development, setup and teardown, facilitation, administrative duties and ensuring a positive participant experience.
The ideal candidate will have recreation industry experience, be comfortable creating and implementing recreational programs, be customer service oriented, and proficient with computer software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe. Applicant must be able to work a varied schedule as needed, which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life in our community while gaining valuable experience in program development and event management. The anticipated hours for this position are 20-30 hours a week for Fall 2025/Winter 2026.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office and recreation facility setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
