GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
This classification reviews claims forms and supporting documents for completeness and accuracy, and obtains any necessary missing information. The Risk Management Coordinator reports to and supports the Risk Manager with workers’ compensation, property, and general liability claims.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions:
· Reviews insurance claims for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility
· Assist with safety-related training and accident-avoidance training
· Communicates with third parties and employees to assist with processing and managing insurance claims
· Handles customer service tasks, such as answering questions about regulations and policies
· Reviews claim submissions, obtaining and verifying information, and corresponding with insurance agents and beneficiaries
· Inputs claim information into the system for processing
· Verifies coverage eligibility
· Compares identifying information and counts of claims
· Assists with documenting and reporting accidents and injuries
· Assists with training employees on policies and procedures, and legal and compliance updates
· May participate in New Hire Orientations
· Traveling locally in the city may be required
· Performs other related duties as required
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
· Requires a High School Diploma and 2 years of college or Associates degree
· One (1) year of work experience in insurance, customer service, accounting, or a related field
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
· Consistent, predictable, and timely attendance is essential for in-office positions
· Experience with workplace and vehicle safety is a plus
· Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
