What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Spec III - Financial Evidence Auditor position at City of South Bend?
SALARY RANGE: $48,000 to $50,000 annually
SCHEDULE: Monday-Thursday, 7am to 5pm
POSITION SUMMARY
Performs a variety of routine and complex clerical, secretarial, bookkeeping, auditing, and administrative work for the Police Department. Responsible for researching and auditing financial evidence related to seizures and forfeitures and other accounting functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
- Maintain all information regarding financial evidence as it relates to seizures and financial forfeiture of monetary property.
- Provide support to and assist officers when needed to obtain, maintain, and disseminate seizure paperwork.
- Understand court orders to properly disseminate and filter the financial evidence to the proper person, agency or other entity to which it belongs
- Keep accurate records to ensure the Records Supervisor and Director of Logistics are informed of any changes or issues.
- Update Records Supervisor and Director of Logistics periodically as to status of seizures/forfeitures.
- Complete standard office and department forms; compiles data for various reports.
- Maintain departmental documents and records.
- Establish and maintain filing systems, records and indexes using moderate independent judgment.
- Assist Manager-Property & Evidence in logging, organizing, and maintaining evidence when needed

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
- Working knowledge of City or County government a plus.
- Ability to communicate with supervisors, peers, or subordinates, providing information by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work, developing specific goals and plans to accomplish work.
- Working knowledge of financial spreadsheets, Excel or any other spreadsheet software.
- Highly organized and detail oriented
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION
- Valid Driver’s License, or ability to obtain.
EQUIPMENT
Copier, facsimile machine, computer, telephone, and calculator.
