The Solon Service Department is accepting applications for a full-time Parts Runner.
The Fleet Maintenance Support Technician provides essential operational and logistical support to the Service Department. This role assists mechanics and staff by coordinating parts, transporting vehicles, maintaining inventory, and performing light mechanical work to ensure efficient fleet operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Pick up and deliver parts, equipment, and vehicles
- Assist mechanics and support daily shop operations
- Maintain inventory and restock parts
- Perform light vehicle maintenance (oil changes, tires, lights, etc.)
- Keep shop clean and organized
- Complete paperwork and assist with scheduling
- Respond to seasonal duties (snow/ice, leaf collection) and emergency overtime
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B required
- Minimum of two (2) years of driving experience
- Basic knowledge of automotive and mechanical parts
- Experience with inventory control preferred
This position is Civil Service and a member of a bargaining unit. It is slotted at Pay Grade 1 on the Service Department Union contract offering a minimum starting hourly pay range of $22.5018/hour (with CDL). City benefits include medical, prescription, dental, and vision as well as membership in the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System, vacation, sick leave accruals, and select paid holidays.
