Job Summary
The City of Sikeston is seeking applications for the position of Parks Maintenance Supervisor in our Public Works Department. The City is looking for a strong leader to guide the day-to-day maintenance and projects of all City parks. More specifically, responsible for the maintenance and oversight of sports fields, playground equipment, buildings, parking lots, and other amenities at city parks. This position will assign tasks, plan and manage projects, ensure safety and proper procedures are followed by assigned skilled workers and seasonal positions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum three (3) years related experience or training; or a bachelor’s degree in Natural resources, Parks and Recreation, or similar field from a college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Supervisory Experience. Experience in grounds and facilities maintenance including sports turf and ballfield maintenance. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to operate welder, mower, bobcat, backhoe, dump truck, etc. Must exhibit proficiency in landscaping/forestry practices and procedures. Must possess basic knowledge of fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or other chemicals and their application. Must exhibit proficiency in communicating directions/ instructions both verbally and in writing; must possess the ability to generate formal written reports and bid specifications. Must exhibit tact and courtesy when dealing with public and co-workers. Must possess valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and tanker qualifications. Must reside within a thirty (30) mile radius of Sikeston City Limits. Must obtain Certified Playground Safety Instructor Certification. May be required to work irregular hours as needed. Must maintain active landline or cellular telephone.
