Duties
- Performs skilled precision work while also supervising and coordinating activities of skilled, semi-skilled, and/or unskilled workers in the daily use of appropriate tools to weed, prune, water, spray, fertilize, plant, remove litter, and mow public rights-of-way, parks cemeteries and golf courses.
- Plans and implements daily work schedules, training and safety programs, policies and procedures, work changes and corrective actions.
- Requests tools, equipment, and supplies; submits work reports.
- Assists with budget estimates.
- Screens applications, interview job applicants and recommends new hires, promotions, pay raises and other personnel actions.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Data Science and 1 year experience in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; or
- Five (5) years experience in grounds maintenance including combination of three (3) years in a supervisory or lead worker position.
- Hold or be able to qualify for, such certificates and/or licenses as may be required by Federal, State, and City Government.
- Must have a valid driver's license at time of employment.
- Occasionally requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force, frequently requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force, and/or consistently moving 10 pounds of force to move objects.
- May also be required to lift more than 50 pounds with proper assistance.
- Work is performed outdoors with exposure to noise, chemicals, inclement weather, dirt, grease, dust, and machinery with moving parts.
- Will be required to wear protective devices at times.
