What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Specialist IV position at City of Shreveport?
Field Operations assignment will operate heavy equipment, such as backhoes, front end loaders, etc. and will drive the trucks and haul equipment to work sites. Employee will supervise the work crews at all sites and will be responsible for ensuring that heavy equipment is properly maintained and serviced. In this capacity, employee will assist the supervisor as required and will oversee the zone in the supervisor's absence. Responsible for maintaining record keeping and documentation for all work performance including software/databases (CityWorks) used to report repair workEmployee will supervise and plan workloads for wash truck, dump truck and hydrant inspection personnel, flushing crews, provide training on proper maintenance and repair of sewer and water mains, hydrants, manholes, etc.; investigate system, problems and develop corrective actions; conduct the valving down and tapping of water and force mains in the zone; conduct the installation of valves, hydrants, air relief valves, fittings, and other appurtenances. Coordinates post-repair site restoration including landscaping and roadways, sidewalks, and driveways. Inspects, reviews, and approves contractor assigned jobs. Performs and maintains housekeeping standards; understands basic electrical safety; operates forklift, weed-eater, and tractor/bush hog; repairs fences and wooden structures; clear and maintain rights-of-ways; serve as CCTV operator; operate and maintain sewerage bypass set-ups; serve as utility locator/damage prevention facilitator.
All Maintenance Specialist IV's will be able to perform any of the tasks required of a Maintenance Specialist II or III employee and may be called upon to do so if required. Requisitions parts and supplies. Ensures that work teams observe all
safety requirements. Completes or assist in documenting work orders, basic forms and employee evaluations. Interacts with customers. Responsible for maintenance of buildings and grounds. Responsible for fueling rental pumps. Responsible for maintaining inventory of assigned tools & equipment, as well as proper operation, care and security of assigned items for performing work assigned and reporting needed repairs and loss of equipment and tools. Demonstrates knowledge and use of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and related documentation procedures. Initiates work orders.
Maintains job safety standards (personal protection equipment, etc.); complies with City of Shreveport vehicle safety rules; trains new team members on safe work practices. Regularly attends required safety, job related, and certification training classes as required. Subject to be on call 24/7. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
1). High School Diploma or GED.
2). Must possess a Class A or Class B CDL Louisiana Driver's License.3). Valid State Vehicle Operator's License with class applicable to assigned position.
4). Associates Degree or two-year vocational degree from an accredited college in mechanical, electrical, or welding and two years of experience in operations and/or maintenance or four (4) or more years’ experience as a Maintenance Specialist III or in industrial/environmental operations and/or maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5). Field Operations assignment - Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of heavy equipment, including backhoes and front-end loaders. Hold or be able to obtain Class 3 Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Certificates issued by the State of Louisiana, Dept. of Health and Hospitals within 3 years. Environmental conditions will include hazards consisting of weather conditions, chemical agents, energized machinery, biological agents, oncoming traffic, and other dangerous situations.
Salary : $3,269 - $5,139
