What are the responsibilities and job description for the DEPUTY COURT CLERK position at City of Sherwood AR?
Responsible for performing a wide variety of routine clerical and administrative support work for the Municipal Court. Assists in administering criminal proceedings and docketing. Prepares correspondence and maintains records. Processes deferrals, jail sentences, probations, pre-sentence matters, and failures. Assists in the coordination of court matters with defendants, defense counsel, prosecutor, police department, jail, alcohol agencies and other levels of the criminal justice administration system. Responds to counter, telephone and written inquiries. Accounts for receipts and deposits for monies for fines, forfeitures and other court receipts. Prepares reports for state and local agencies. Prepares court dockets and files; Checks with jails for special hearings; issues warrants of arrest. Initiates requests for driving and criminal records. Receives, logs and indexes incoming filings, citations and complaints. Initiates related paperwork as needed by defendants to facilitate their response to citation or complaint. Performs primary filing of all papers, dockets, case files, and case related correspondence. Constructs new case files, filing and retrieving documents as necessary. Prepares files for court use; processes timely notices to defendants of arraignments, trials and hearings. Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.
Qualifications
High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g., data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc., plus or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in clerical, secretary, paralegal or administrative work; Obtain Deputy Clerk Certification within 3 years of being hired. Considerable knowledge of general office procedures. Must have an understanding of the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act. Ability to maintain accurate records, type and enter data accurately. Ability to effectively communicate on a one-on-one basis with others. Ability to maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with other employees, department officials and the public. Ability to report to work each scheduled day, and on time.
