What are the responsibilities and job description for the CREW LEADER- DRAINAGE position at City of Sherwood AR?
Provides working supervision for a crew involved in construction, repair and maintenance of City streets and related structures. While this position resides in the Streets division of Public Works, all workers, regardless of their affiliation with the street, drainage, or sanitation division, will at times be required to work in other divisions of the Public Works department as needed that day, week, or month based on the City of Sherwood’s needs or budget constraints. Performs daily operative maintenance on assigned trucks and equipment. Lays blocks, walls, riprap and performs other masonry work; digs out corporation cuts for permanent repair; and applies and packs asphalt or other servicing materials. Operates a dump truck to haul gravel and materials to work site. Directs work crews at work sites. Notifies Drainage and Streets Supervisor of any unusual problems, including equipment breakdowns, accidents, injuries to crew members, disciplinary problems and street closings required to complete repair work. Ensures the placement of safety devices at work sites to prevent accidents and injuries.
Qualifications
Must possess a valid Arkansas Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position OR obtain one within six months of selection. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; AND a minimum of one year of experience in drainage maintenance work and one year of supervisor or lead worker experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Knowledge of concrete finishing methods and equipment. Skill in the use and maintenance of light and medium vehicles, including dump trucks and street sweepers. Ability to lead a work crew.
