**MAJOR DUTIES**
The City of Sheridan is actively recruiting a motivated, safety-minded team player to join our Parks Department as a **Grounds Maintenance Worker I**
- This position supports the maintenance, upkeep, repair, and continued improvement of City parks, public spaces, pathways, and the cemetery. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced outdoor environment and have experience operating equipment such as mowers, backhoes, and front-end loaders. Experience maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting irrigation systems is also preferred.
**MAJOR DUTIES**
- Cleans and maintains city parks, public green spaces, pathways and adjacent lands and buildings.
- Removes snow and ice from city walkways, bridges and pathways.
- Provides care for park elk and buffalo.
- Operates and maintains a variety of vehicles and equipment.
- Assists in preparations of burial plots at the city cemetery.
- Maintains and repairs irrigation systems.
- Plants, prunes and maintains trees and shrubs
- Assists with the application of pesticides and herbicides inside City limits.
- Trains and supervises part-time and seasonal personnel as assigned.
- Assists in preparations for City-wide special events.
- Performs related duties.
- The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or Grounds Maintenance Worker, Parks Page 3 equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
- The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, and irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
- Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of Wyoming for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
