What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Code and Zoning Ordinance Enforcement position at City of Sharon?
City of Sharon, in Mercer County, is seeking a full-time Code and Zoning Enforcement Officer. This position will serve as an enforcement agent of the City’s ordinances, including but not limited to Building Code, Zoning, Land Use, Floodplain, Blight, and Property Maintenance. Examples of Work Performed:
- Communicate professionally with property owners, violators, and outside agencies to explain regulations, answer questions, and promote compliance
- Inspect complaints related to unsafe structural and environmental conditions in residential areas
- Make routine inspections through the City to ensure compliance with all codes, such as drainage problems, the accumulation of garbage, high grass and weeds in residential and commercial environments.
- Issue violation notices where applicable
- Issue citations for non-compliant properties
- Represent the City in the District Magistrate's court during code violation hearings
- Answer Zoning Questions and accept applications for Zoning and Building permits
- Prepare clear and concise reports within the City's property database to reflect daily work history
- Deliver warrant notifications
- Perform related tasks as assigned by the Code/Zoning Supervisor
