Job Description: LEAD JAAM INSTRUCTOR
PAY GROUP: TP 7 FLSA: Nonexempt
Summary Of Position
Under the supervision of the Recreation Superintendent, the Lead Instructor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, planning and implementation of the designated after school program and curriculum at an assigned campus.
Examples Of Work
Essential Duties*
Enforce all policies and procedures.
Supervise and account for the arrival and departure of all participants every day.
Ensure the safety and welfare of the children and staff at all times.
Oversee the daily operation of the after-school Program by building strong family, community and school relations.
Maintain order and discipline within the program space by using appropriate guidance techniques as stated in the after school behavior management policies.
Administrative duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: receiving and tracking payments, writing receipts, making nightly bank drops, and maintaining child registration forms.
Will be required to submit to the Parks office, inventory sheets, attendance sheets, staff timesheets, Camp Spring Break paperwork, weekly activity plans and other correspondences as required in a timely manner.
Plan, supervise and implement a well-rounded, age-appropriate curriculum for the program site.
Responsible for setting up activity areas, and the security and neat storage of all equipment and supplies.
Provide direction and guidance to staff, aid in staff training and staff meetings- Supervise staff and provide written evaluations upon request, including disciplinary action.
Participate in all staff development training’s, staff meetings, and community functions that relate to the after school program.
Submit inventory sheet/orders for equipment and supplies when needed.
Pick up supplies and information on designated days from the Parks and Recreation Office.
Inform the Recreation Superintendent of any problems/concerns.
Other Important Duties*
Any additional tasks and/or duties as deemed necessary by the Recreation Superintendent.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
The incumbent must be a minimum of 18 years old, and have experience working with school age children.
Additionally, This Position Requires The Following
participate/lead games and physical activities including running, and walking from place to place.
Ability to: establish relationships with and motivate co-workers; give and follow instructions; work independently; assess situations, solve problems and prioritize multiple tasks and projects; communicate professionally, exercise controlled discretion and good judgement; work effectively with members of the public, and mediate difficult situations in a professional manner; understand and follow written and oral instructions; complete written reports.

- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with co-workers, and the Recreation Superintendent in carrying out program vision
- Ability to supervise and motivate staff and children
- Exhibit maturity and sound judgment at all times particularly when decision making
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus at least two (2) years working with school aged children.

Certificates And Licenses Required
- State of Texas Class C driver's license.
- Must possess or be able to obtain within sixty (60) days of employment the Community First Aid and Safety/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
