Seattle Public Utilities’ (SPU) Drinking Water Quality Lab has an exciting Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) opportunity for an Administrative Specialist II-BU to join the Utility Service Inspections team.  This position will work as part of SPU’s Cross-Connection Control Program by providing administrative support for dedicated projects, will create regulatory job aides, will create customer contact pathways to help initiate regulatory monitoring, and will utilize publicly available data related to Severe and High Health Hazard facilities. 

This Term Limited Temporary (TLT) opportunity is fully benefited, is expected to last until October 2028 and is open to all eligible and qualified candidates.

Primary Responsibilities for this TLT Water Quality Cross-Connection Administrative Specialist:
  • Gather and review public data, including business licensing data, to identify areas where property use aligns with SPU’s Cross-connection Control program
  • Work with the Cross-connection Control team to identify Severe & High Health Hazard facilities that are connected to the public water supply
  • Help establish pathways for the data to be utilized by the program’s regulatory database
  • Create spreadsheets to track and report progress
  • Provide thorough and accurate reporting of progress
  • Create job aids for business workflows created

Combinations of appropriate education, training, certification, and experience(s) will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability.


Desired Qualifications:

  • MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Experience organizing and successfully completing project work and related job aid
  • Ability to work successfully with limited supervision, both in-office and remotely 
  • Water quality administrative experience, is preferred

The full salary range for this position is $35.56 per hour - $41.31 per hour.


Workplace Environment (*Telework Expectation):
This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. City employees will have the option to work remotely two days a week. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.
