Position Description
The Seattle City Employees' Retirement System Department is seeking a graduate intern to provide support to the SCERS investment team on a special project and, occasionally, daily tasks.
SCERS provides retirement income to thousands of former City of Seattle employees and their beneficiaries. The investment team manages the $4.3 billion investment assets of SCERS.
Educational Benefit to Student:
The student will get a broad overview of all the main investment asset classes (public equities, private equities, bonds, private credit, real estate, and infrastructure) through observing how an investment team allocates a multi-billion-dollar fund in order to meet the return targets.
Job Responsibilities
Portfolio analytics reporting:
Education:
Open to graduate students enrolled in an accredited graduate program, preferably pursuing a MBA, MFA, MS or PhD in Economics, Business, Finance or Accounting. Other programs will be considered but candidates must attach coursework for review.
Graduate students will need to maintain a 3.0 GPA or above throughout the internship.
Required Experience:
Intern should be currently enrolled in or have completed coursework in Economics, Finance, Investing or Accounting.
Desired Qualifications:
Data analytics, strong quantitative skills, good oral and written communications, organizational skills and a team orientation.
Intern should have familiarity with shared drives, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, OneDrive and PDFs.

The full salary range for this internship is $26.71 - $26.71 per hour.
Start/End Dates: SCERS is semi-flexible on start date but prefers to hire an intern ASAP; the duration is negotiable for the right candidate, please include in your submission which months and for how long you are able to intern.
Internship Duration: Flexible.
Schedule: Intern will work 15-20 hours per week with the flexibility of allowing the intern to work 40 hours per week for approximately 8 weeks in the summer. Work hours can be scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Job Responsibilities
Portfolio analytics reporting:
- Continue integration of MSCI web-based data analytics, facilitate reporting, check for accuracy and consistency, identify ways to leverage the system
- Create custom templates for regular analysis, potentially including portfolio profiles, risk exposures, scenario analysis and risk forecasting
- Develop training manual and ensure business continuity through documentation
- Establish protocols for analytics communications and redundancies
- Update implementation and training materials for staff responsibilities
- Design meeting preparation packets
- Create templates for Board presentations
- Establish a practice for monitoring proxy votes and tracking outcomes
- Assist with meeting preparation including power-point, word and excel work
- Assist with ad hoc tasks related to fund administration, performance tracking, and manager-provided documentation
Education:
