What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Rights Testing Program Intern position at City of Seattle?
Position Description
The Seattle Office for Civil Rights (SOCR) enforces laws that protect people from discrimination in employment, housing, public accommodations, and fair contracting within Seattle city limits. In 2017, SOCR launched an in-house Testing Program to partner with community organizations, uncover barriers to housing, and support compliance with Seattle’s anti-discrimination laws. Using “secret shopper”–style methods, the program reveals subtle forms of bias that often go unreported and allows SOCR to provide training, technical assistance, and resources to housing providers. Findings from our testing program inform compliance efforts and help guide providers toward more equitable practices.
SOCR is seeking an undergraduate or graduate student to support our Civil Rights Testing Program and help advance our mission to remove barriers to equity!
