Introduction
The Civilian Asset Forfeiture Investigator is responsible for identifying, documenting and managing assets connected to criminal activity. The primary role is to investigate financial records, property ownership, and other evidence to determine if assets were obtained through or used in criminal conduct. The Investigator will then work with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office in the forfeiture proceedings related to those items. This position will be assigned to the Special Investigation Section within the Special Investigation Division.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Three years of investigative experience in law enforcement.
- An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
- Obtain and maintain a Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) certification. Training is provided on duty and certification testing is completed within first six months of hire.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Essential Functions

- Collects data or information from various sources.
- Creates and reviews Court Orders and Search Warrants and completes required paperwork.
- Assists investigative supervisors with various responsibilities in the Records Management System (RMS).
- Impounds property or evidence
- Creates, updates, or maintains spreadsheets, timelines, or other digital records.
- Attends court hearings for the purpose of testifying to job duties including but not limited to investigations, reports, etc.
- Manages, prioritizes, and organizes an investigative caseload.
