JOB DESCRIPTION
OVAL BEACH PATROL - MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER TO APPLY!
Position Summary: General work in patrolling, maintenance and providing assistance to beach patrons at Oval Beach Park. Positions run from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
Reports to: Beach Patrol Supervisor
Supervises: No supervisory responsibility
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
An employee in this position is required to perform the following essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. These examples are not an exhaustive list of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform.
1. Safety: Advise beach patrons of rules and regulations; contact or inform police of criminal activity or ordinance violations; act as first responder in the event of medical emergency; monitor lake conditions and inform beach patrons of unsafe water conditions as appropriate; document accidents.
2. Park Maintenance: Complete custodial work including cleaning public restrooms and emptying trash receptacles, picking up litter/trash on beach and parking lot, remove excessive sand from steps/walkways and other general maintenance activities as directed.
3. Parking Permit Compliance: Inspect cars in parking lot for correct daily and season parking permits to ensure compliance with City Ordinance.
4. Gate Assistance: Coordinate available parking lot space with gate attendant on busy days; receive payment for daily and season parking permits as needed.
5. Community Relations: Provide assistance to Oval Beach patrons to include explaining general beach safety information; refer unusual customer-related problems to supervisor or police.
6. Performs other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
Requirements include the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to use a two way radio
- CPR/First Aid Certification (will train if necessary)
- Ability to operate an ATV safely
- Experience as a cashier or handling cash
- Knowledge of record keeping procedures
- Knowledge of basic mathematics
- Ability to work constructively and interact professionally with employees, the general public, and supervisors
- Ability to effectively diffuse and calm difficult customer situations

An employee in this position spends the majority of their time outdoors at the Oval Beach Park. Ability to perform job duties under adverse conditions such as exposure to sun, extreme weather, insects, and standing for extended periods of time is required. Job is subject to shift work Monday through Sunday and all holidays.
