Description
We are currently recruiting for a world class Social Caseworker for the Child Protection Intake Unit at the Arapahoe Department of Human Services. The workload as our Hospital Liaison Social Caseworker C will consist mostly of child abuse and neglect investigations being reported from the hospitals.
It is expected that the majority of the assessments you will conduct will occur at Childern's Hospital and you will utilize your superior coordination and communication skills collaborating with the department on site nurse.
As our Social Caseworker Hospital Liaison you will have advanced and strong assessment skills, be well versed in the policies, practices and philosophy of the department and be able to communicate them effectively and with tact and diplomacy with collateral agencies. Utilize your baseline knowledge of serious non-accidental injuries and serious neglect including failure to thrive and dedication to further develop an advanced knowledge of such.
Duties
Our social caseworker's conducts investigations of alleged physical abuse and neglect; determines if situation warrants the recommendation of placing children outside the home; supervises placement of children and coordinates parent/child visits; determines when and if a child should be recommended to return to their home.
Makes evaluation and assessment of need for services; provides crisis intake and/or develops long-term case plans appropriate to the child(ren) and family. Monitors progress of clients and modifies case plans as needed.
Provides individual or family counseling on an ongoing or crisis basis to children and their parents who are experiencing severe problems in the parents-child relationships.
Makes collateral contacts with such community resources as law enforcement and medical personnel to obtain addition information, coordinate services, or secure their assistance.
Gathers and consolidates background information to present as documentation for court hearings, as progress reports in judicial reviews, or as summaries in facilitating appropriate placements.
Participates in staffing with school, mental health facilities, child protection review teams, and other professionals involved with the family members.
Attends court hearings; confers with lawyers, children, parents, witnesses and significant others in references to their respective roles.
Serves as information and referral source to other employees and to the public.
Provides as variety of ancillary assignments as needed including preparing and maintaining client records and completing required forms and reports.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of full-time professional social casework experience acquired after the completion of the human behavioral sciences degree in a public or private social services agency.
A MSW will substitute for two(2) of the three (3) the required social casework experience.
A BSW or Master's in a human behavioral science field will substitute for one (1) of the three (3) years required social casework experience.

- Normal work hours are 8 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, but hours may vary.
- Must successfully pass a criminal and driving record background check(s)
- Must possess and maintain a current Colorado Driver's License
