The Person County Public Library is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Part-Time Library Page to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a welcoming community environment, has a passion for organization, and is committed to providing excellent service to library patrons.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.

Hours: Flexible hours with Friday and Saturday hours required on rotation. 20 hours per week. This is a non-exempt position. Part-time employees cannot work more than 1000 hours per calendar year.

Essential Functions

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

• Assists patrons with questions, information requests, and with requests for materials.
• Collects fines and provides receipts.
• Answers questions and advises patrons in the use and location of library materials.
• Circulates materials using a computer and specialized library software.
• Issues library cards and processes patron holds and requests.
• Assists the public in using computers, equipment, library catalog, and electronic resources.
• Assists with collection maintenance tasks such as sorting, shelving, and withdrawing materials according to Library procedures.
• Repairs damaged materials.
• Performs related clerical duties as needed.
• Performs related work as assigned.

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.

Person County conducts pre-employment screening on candidates. Job offers are conditional pending the following:

• A pre-employment drug screen for all candidates. Positions designated by Person County as Safety Sensitive are also subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
• A background check for all candidates. Some positions also require a credit check.
• Additional screening and testing required for some positions.

Part-time employees can enroll in the NC 401k and NC 457 plans through Empower. No County contributions.

County gym membership if working at least 850 hours per year. Cost is $50. per year.
