The Santa Clara City Library is a high-performing, community-centered department serving a very diverse population.
The City Librarian leads a dedicated team of 43 full-time employees and 46 as-needed staff. This position is responsible for operational oversight of the library system. This highly engaged leader has experience working with boards, commissions, and/or elected officials and a record of innovation, responsiveness, and positive community impact. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator and relationship builder who combines strategic thinking with a practical, hands-on approach.
Qualifications:
Position requires 5 years of increasingly responsible professional library service or the equivalent, including at least 4 years as an Assistant Director or Division Manager of a comparable or larger library system, or as a Director of a smaller system with similar responsibilities plus a Bachelor’s degree. Master’s in Library/Information Sciences is strongly preferred.
