The recent merger by the City of Sanford will significantly expand our reach and influence in the industry. The LAI will work with TriRiver Water/City of Sanford customers to perform the following duties:
Performs intermediate semiskilled work maintaining treatment plant records, collecting samples and assisting with testing in a water reclamation facility; does related work as required. Work is performed under moderate supervision. Tasks include:
- Taking samples; assisting with testing; maintaining records and files; preparing reports.
- Collects daily samples from various locations.
- Records plant temperatures, PH, flow, D.O., and other readings from various meters.
- Calibrates testing equipment.
- Performs laboratory tests; prepares and reads bacteriological tests; prepares bacteriological growth medium and titration chemicals.
- Maintains log of all reagents used daily; maintains chemical inventories.
- Cleans and sterilizes glassware and other laboratory equipment; maintains appearance of laboratory.
- Answers phones.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Qualifications
The position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school; general knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of chemistry and microbiology; general knowledge of applicable local, State and Federal regulations; general knowledge in preparing reports and maintaining records; general knowledge of the operation and care of specialized laboratory equipment; general knowledge in the use of SCADA and graphing software; skill in taking samples for testing of wastewater; ability to maintain records and files; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. Position also requires possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina and the ability to obtain a North Carolina Grade I Wastewater Treatment Operator certification within one year of employment. Must meet and maintain all certification, license and training requirements for position.
