Utility Manager

The City of Sandy Springs is seeking a proactive and solutions-driven professional to serve as our next Utility Manager within the Public Works Department. This position plays a critical role in coordinating utility infrastructure projects, managing right-of-way activities, supporting emergency response operations, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

What You’ll Do

As Utility Manager, you will serve as a key liaison between the City, utility providers, contractors, developers, and the public to support safe and efficient utility operations throughout the community.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating utility relocations and construction activities related to roadway and infrastructure projects
• Reviewing permit applications and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and standards
• Managing utility-related contracts, agreements, and tracking systems within the public right-of-way
• Utilizing systems such as OpenGov, ArcGIS, Lucity, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office to monitor and document operations
• Conducting site inspections before, during, and after construction activities
• Collaborating with internal departments, external agencies, contractors, and residents to resolve issues and support project delivery
• Serving in after-hours emergency response and on-call operations as needed
• Representing the department at meetings, committees, workshops, and community events

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum of three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid Georgia driver’s license
• Working knowledge of:
  • OpenGov
  • ArcGIS
  • Bluebeam Revu
  • Lucity
  • Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to analyze data, interpret regulations, and make sound operational decisions
