What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Fun Program Assistant Site Supervisor position at City of San Marcos, TX?
This is temporary employment. The position begins June 1, 2026, for staff training, and camp runs from June 8, 2026 – July 31, 2026; camps run for 8 weeks.
- Assist in supervising Summer Fun Activity Leaders and ensure smooth delivery of recreational programming for approximately 75 participants.
- Oversee participant safety during on-site and off-site activities; enforce program rules; administer first aid when necessary; complete required documentation and daily safety checks.
- Facilitate and manage age-appropriate recreational activities, including structured games, swimming, bowling, movies, and special field trips, ensuring an engaging and inclusive experience.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized campus environment by performing routine upkeep and addressing facility needs as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
- CPR/First Aid Certification is required during week of training- administered by City of San Marcos
- Required to do Community Service duties
- Must work the full 9-week program, including training week.

- Previous experience working with young children
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of program policies, safety procedures, and child supervision standards to ensure a secure and positive environment.
Knowledge of basic math for enrollment tracking and activity planning.
Skill in effective communication to interact with staff, address public concerns, and provide guidance to children and parents.
Skill in problem-solving and data analysis to evaluate situations, resolve issues, and make sound decisions under pressure.
Ability to supervise children consistently and maintain a safe, structured, and engaging atmosphere that promotes learning and growth.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, apply policies appropriately, and respond calmly and effectively in dynamic situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally. Subject to standing, sitting, walking, vision, hearing and talking frequently; lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing and balancing occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Working conditions involve indoor and outdoor work, in the heat, sun, high humidity and wind; occasionally exposed to swimming pool chemicals, slippery surfaces; noise around crowds and whistles.
