The Aquatics Program Supervisor supports year-round aquatic operations by assisting with natatorium activities during the off-season and coordinating summer aquatics programming at the Rio Vista Pool. This role ensures the effective delivery of aquatic services by supporting program planning, facility maintenance, and high-quality customer interactions. It contributes to organizational safety and service excellence through supervising staff, responding to community needs, and maintaining accurate operational records. Through these responsibilities, the position plays a key role in enhancing community engagement and ensuring safe, well-managed aquatic environments.

  • Supports year-round aquatic operations by assisting in the coordination and oversight of Activity Center Natatorium functions during the off-season and leading daily operations at Rio Vista Pool during peak season.
  • Ensures safe and well-maintained aquatic environments by monitoring water quality, performing routine safety checks, maintaining chemical systems and equipment, and overseeing general facility cleanliness.
  • Contributes to high-quality aquatic programming by assisting with the delivery of swim lessons, lap swim sessions, special events, and related services, and by maintaining accurate operational, safety, and financial records.
  • Provides responsive and professional customer service by engaging with patrons, addressing inquiries and concerns, and supporting timely resolution of complaints to uphold a positive public experience.
  • Trains, schedules, and supports seasonal staff, ensuring understanding of safety protocols, service standards, and required certifications to maintain compliance and operational readiness.
  • Assists in lifeguard duties, monitors inventory needs, provides on-call support for emergency situations, and performs related duties to ensure safe, efficient, and continuous facility operations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older at time of employment.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience required.
  • Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required. 
  • Lifeguard Instructor certifications are required within one (1) year of employment. Certified Pool-Spa Operator/Aquatic Facility Operator within one year of employment required.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2) seasons of experience managing aquatic facility operations preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of regulations, municipal codes, departmental policies, and operational procedures, including the ability to read, interpret, and prepare related documents and records.
  • Knowledge of aquatic facility operations, safety standards, and program delivery requirements.
  • Skill in effective verbal and written communication, with the ability to maintain positive working relationships with staff, departments, patrons, vendors, and external agencies.
  • Skill in supervising, training, and evaluating personnel to support operational goals and service standards.
  • Skill in coordinating facility operations, aquatic programs, and customer service functions.
  • Ability to manage day-to-day service delivery, prioritize tasks, and make operational decisions that support safe, efficient, and customer-focused aquatic environments.
  • Ability to respond professionally to inquiries, resolve concerns, and adapt to changing operational needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical requirements include lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally.  Subject to vision constantly; standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, balancing, talking and foot controls occasionally; kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting and climbing rarely.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working conditions involve exposure to variable and/or extreme weather conditions, wet surfaces, water, pool maintenance equipment, hazardous chemicals, infectious diseases, and blood borne pathogens.


This is a safety-sensitive position.
