What are the responsibilities and job description for the SURVEY TECHNICIAN position at City of San Angelo Texas?

We are currently seeking:
A Survey Technician to join our team. In this role, you will perform technical field surveys for land mapping and construction projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Works with a field survey crew to gather survey measurements and observations, measure bearings and distances, and provide measurements from survey control points.
- Operates a full range of survey equipment including electronic measuring devices, levels and other technical engineering equipment.
- Uses Global Positioning System (GPS) base station and rover to develop differential GPS readings with millimeter accuracy of map coordinates; enters data into City Geographic Information System (GIS) database.
- Maintains field notes of survey work performed; collects measurement data, processes survey information and generates reports and drawings for various engineering and planning projects.
- Performs as-built and boundary surveys on City infrastructure; sets and verifies survey stakes and monuments; performs mathematical calculations for construction staking and layout.
- Maintains and updates maps and records; maintains project records and files; generates reports as required.
- Sets up traffic control signs and markers; follows all safety rules and regulations on the job site.
- Recognizes, avoids, and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Skills:
- Reading and understanding plans, specifications and schematics.
- Reading engineering instruments, meters and gauges and accurately recording findings.
- Promoting and following safe work practices.
- Maintaining records and files.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
- Operating a personal computer utilizing specialized engineering software and file management procedures.
- Communicating clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; and one year field experience in surveying; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed outdoors at construction sites.
- Ability to climb ladders to considerable heights.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 63 lbs.
