Position Title: Municipal Worker III
Department: Public Works
Reports to: Field Utilities/Streets Supervisor
Status: Fulltime Regular, Non-Exempt; 4x10 work schedule
Pay: $23.84 - $30.61 depending on experience
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Provides a lead role with a wide variety of manual labor and semi-skilled work related to the operation of construction equipment and machinery utilized in the construction, maintenance and repair of the City streets, alleys, water and waste water lines and general public works.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Provides support to the Public Works Director, Field Utilities/Streets Supervisor, and fellow crew members of the department. May be directed to serve as the Field Supervisor in their absence. Reports to either the Field Utilities Supervisor or Streets Supervisor depending on Public Work’s division hired within.

- Serves as a Master operator, plumber, craftsman, or laborer.
- Performs various manual labor activities such as shoveling, digging, and lifting heavy objects.
- Performs various semi-skilled activities such as construction, concrete, and asphalt work.
- Utilities Municipal Worker repairs and maintains water distribution and wastewater collection system infrastructure including meters, hydrants, manholes, services, taps, and other related repairs.
- Works with Utility Inspector and periodically assists with permits and locates.
- Trim and remove trees as necessary.
- Traffic Control
- Operates a variety of equipment to include loader, backhoe, and motor grader. Must be proficient in the operation of all pieces of equipment and proficient in the operation of the dump/snowplow truck. Performs basic maintenance services on all equipment or vehicles operated.
- Works in adverse weather conditions and after normal working hours when needed.
- Required to accurately complete daily timesheets and associated paperwork.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Complete three (3) years of experience in construction trades, excavation or related field, or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within 1 year of hire
- Utility Municipal Worker - Preferred certification as a Colorado Certified Water Professional with Distribution Class III, Collection Class III, Certified Backflow Tester/Inspector, or other licensure demonstrating proficiency in the trade.
- Street Municipal Worker –LTAP Roads Scholar 1 Certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstration of leadership abilities and capable of being a self-starter
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
- Working knowledge of all Public Works policies and directives.
- Must be able to interact positively with public and contractors.
- Working knowledge of common hazards and safety precautions necessary for public works operation.
- Mechanically inclined and competent in the operation of equipment.
- Possess valid Colorado’s driver’s license
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the general public.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
