What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Lines Technician II - Water position at CITY OF SALEM TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS - CITY OF SALEM?
Performs semiskilled work installing, maintaining, and repairing water and sewer lines and appurtenances, operating dump trucks and other equipment, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Utility Lines Crew Supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Performs a variety of tasks in installing, maintaining, and repairing water and sewer lines; makes taps; installs and repairs service lines and laterals; maintains meters and vaults.
- Operates a crew, single, double, or tandem axle dump truck and other equipment in connection with the transportation of sand, stone, gravel, tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Uses various hand tools and equipment including shovels, jack-hammers, saws, and tampers.
- Operates sewer clearing jet-Vector truck, CCTV camera, and related equipment in utility operations.
- Sets up work zones and flags traffic; puts out signs, closes lanes, sets up lane shifts, and closes roads as directed.
- Responds to a variety of after-hours emergency problems, stand-by, and trouble calls.
