Under general supervision, the Utility Laborer performs a variety of work involving the maintenance of the city's facilities and infrastructure throughout Saint Peter.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent; Valid driver's license with possession of a Minnesota Class A or B Commercial Driver's license within six months of employment with the City; Possession of an American Heart Certification as a Basic Rescuer for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiac care, or the ability to obtain within six months of employment with the City.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience of full-time employment (32 hours per week or greater) for at least 12 continuous months; Valid Class A or B commercial driver's license; demonstrated experience in the operation of a dump truck, loader, backhoe, skid steer, woodchipper, aerial lift truck, chainsaw, stump grinder; demonstrated knowledge of utility operations; demonstrated knowledge of road construction; demonstrated knowledge of building construction, facility maintenance, electrical wiring, plumbing and maintenance; demonstrated knowledge of landscaping, turf management and maintenance; demonstrated ability to speak conversational Somali or Spanish.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: Min $ Max $23.99 per hour (2025 Union rates) (non-exempt).
