Our Parks and Recreation department is hiring diverse and talented individuals to join our team at the Como Zoo and Conservatory. As a Zoo and Conservatory Attendant, you help provide quality experiences to the residents and visitors of Saint Paul.
Year round certified positions working 30-40 hours per week on a flexible schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends.

Here’s What You Can Expect To Do
- Performs entry level customer support work providing plant and animal interpretive information to visitors.
- Staffing the visitor services desk, gardens and exhibits and assisting at special events and special exhibits at Como Park Zoo and Conservatory 365 days a year.
- Provides brief, scripted, educational sessions to visitors about plants, animals, and conservation.
- Assists with handling education animals and plants, supports and presents scripted programs, and performs story time.
- Collects donations, handles cash, sells tickets and permits, sets up tables and chairs, and shovels snow as necessary. Administers Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid as necessary.

Must Be Able To
- Learn and administer CPR, defibrillator, and first aid assistance.
- Work 30-40 hours per week.
- Work weekends, some evenings, and holidays.
- Work in a stationary position, indoor or outdoor, in all weather and temperature conditions for 4-10 hour duration OR, for the duration of the assignment.
- Attend a mandatory three-day training session and ongoing training on plant, conservation, and animal interpretation, safety and other job-related topics.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Second language speaking skills
- Animal handling
- Knowledge of plants and animals
