Summary

The Investigative Analyst is responsible for assisting the investigations unit with research, information analysis, technical tasks, case preparation, communications, and serving the general public.

Essential Duties Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical, technical, and customer service support.
  • Build relationships with the community, external agencies, and staff.
  • Assist staff in achieving their goal of providing high quality criminal case investigation and preparation for the City of Roseville.
  • Research and compile investigative data.
  • Log, disseminate, and organize digital media evidence for interdepartmental and external purposes.
  • Analyze crime trends to improve department efficiency.
  • Coordinate the Department’s use of Leads Online and conducts pawn-related inquiries, including confiscation of items. Maintains regular contact with local pawn shops.
  • Prepare annual reports, department audits, ad-hoc analyses, and other data requests.
  • Assist Property Room/Investigations Technician with evidence collection and handling at crime scenes and on search warrants.
  • Manage Body Worn Camera (BWC) program including fleet maintenance, technical issue troubleshooting, video catalog administration, preparing videos for court, and redacting videos to fulfill data requests.
  • Provide clerical, technical, and customer service support while building relationships with the community, external agencies, and staff.
  • Assist other departments and employees as necessary.
  • Continually show respect for diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and interests. Exhibit sensitivity to the needs of diverse audiences in all duties performed on behalf of the City to support Roseville in building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working environment and community.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as statistics, research methods, GIS, law enforcement procedures, or criminal justice.
  • 1-3 years related experience
  • Experience working with the public and law enforcement software and databases preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Windows operating environment.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

75% work is in a normal office environment and 25% is in the field with frequent and occasional exposure to hot/cold temperatures, wet and/or humidity. Exposure to violent, stressful, explicit, medical and dangerous situations and reports can be expected. Lifting or moving up to 25 pounds or less is required.

The Investigative Analyst is responsible for diverse matters, some of which have deadlines and require significant attention to detail. Approximately 70% of time, work is performed at a high level of detail or pressure of deadlines.
