Position Summary
This position will remain open until filled. Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
The Elections Specialist will assist and provide support to the city clerk and deputy city clerk during the 2026 elections process.
This is a variable hour; temporary position as is not eligible for benefits. Timeline for this position will be approximately June 25, 2026 – August 12, 2026, and September 18, 2026, through November 4, 2026, with most hours scheduled between October 2 – November 3 for the general election. Normal hours for this position are 7:45 am to 4:45pm.
Essential Duties
Assists the city clerk and deputy city clerk in the planning, administrations, and execution of various duties in connection with the 2026 elections.
Assists voters in obtaining an absentee ballot by entering and/or proofing voter’s data in the voter registration system (SVRS).
Attends election training as required to help in the administration of election services for the city.
Assists with election equipment testing to ensure the accuracy of the equipment.
Other general clerical duties including data entry, copying, scanning, filing, and assembling documents
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver's License
Eligible to vote in elections
Two years of clerical work experience in an office environment with significant customer contact.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to professionally and courteously handle requests for information and concerns from the public and staff.
Work well in a deadline driven environment working on multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to do highly detailed and accurate work.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills
Work well under pressure and in stressful situations.
Exercise tact and diplomacy in interpersonal dealings during stressful circumstances
Ability to work evenings and weekends as workload increases closer to the election.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience with elections and the Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS)
Previous elections experience in an administrative capacity.

Physical Requirements and Activity
The work requires the occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting.
