DEFINITION
Under supervision, does unskilled to semi-skilled manual labor; mows, waters, applies fertilizer, plants, trims and cares for lawns, plants and trees. Does unskilled construction work and related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the direct supervision of the Superintendent or lead. Work may be performed with some independence and employees may be responsible for completion of some jobs without specific instruction or guidance.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision of other employees is not a normal responsibility of this classification.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Mow, fertilize, and water landscaped areas.
- Plant and care for shrubs and trees.
- Pick up litter and dispose of refuse.
- Operate grounds equipment, tractors, and other City vehicles.
- Assist in installing and maintaining irrigation systems.
- May clean, service, and maintain public restrooms as well as other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education and experience requirements listed are minimum standards. Other equivalent combinations of education, certifications, training, and experience may be considered.
Education: Graduation from high school or possession of the equivalent GED Certificate.
Experience: None Required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & CERTIFICATIONS
Possession of a valid driver's license by date of hire. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days.
Post-offer physical including drug screen.
Completion of a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.

While performing the duties of this job, work is performed primarily outdoors with a noise level and weather which may vary. May be exposed to dust, fumes, various chemicals, cleaners and natural allergens. Requires ability to bend, sit, kneel, walk, reach, push, shovel and climb. Requires the ability to perform a full range of motion with lifting and/or carrying supplies, materials, equipment and/or items weighing up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to moving vehicles and equipment.

WORK SCHEDULE
Typical hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and may include weekend work.
