Position Overview:
Deputy Clerk is a division staff member working under the direction and guidance of the Clerk of Court. The Deputy Clerk has administrative and clerical responsibilities related to daily case filings and case management, weekly docket proceedings, general public inquiries, acceptance of payments and issuance of receipts, and specific assigned job duties and responsibilities. The Court’s full-time schedule is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is semi-sedentary work (standing is required) requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and negligible amount of force frequently to move objects; work requires typing and data entry; verbal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data , determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environment conditions.

Duties:
Administration* 85%
· Processing newly filed citations, summons and complaints
· Answering general inquiries from public, attorneys, law enforcement officers, prosecutors and others via phone, mail, e-mail and in person
· Managing case data including filings, dispositions, journalizations, post judgment activities, BMV reporting
· Managing financial responsibility compliance and reporting
· Processing payment agreements and related procedures
· Processing adjudicated cases, e.g.: out-of-court computations, payment exchanges, receipt processing, updating case file records
· Processing appeals
· Processing warrants, certified journal entries, record check investigations, subpoenas, etc.
· Processing and recording bail bond filings
· Issuing case continuance notices
· Documenting record clearance and modifications via BMV
· Maintaining assigned cash drawer
· Refunding of cash bonds
· Processing mail waivers
Miscellaneous Duties 15%
· Adhere to the policies and procedures as outlined in the Rocky River Municipal Court Employee Handbook
· Work the general counter to accept and process filings
· Accept and record daily payments including bond monies
· Assist the public as needed
· Answer the phones and direct calls to proper areas and persons;
· Timestamp incoming daily filings
· Prepare certified copies of court records as required
· total and complete daily deposit slips for monies receipted
· Departmental mail is received daily and distributed accordingly
· Must maintain confidentially and a firm yet helpful approach is necessary for this position

Minimum Qualifications:
· Minimum - high school education (diploma) or G.E.D.
· Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and/or experience as a deputy court clerk, paralegal, legal secretary or similar work experience is preferred but not required.
· A valid state issued driver’s license
