- Lifts refuse cans; carries empty and filled refuse tubs considerable distances.
- Polices the immediate area of refuse containers located on private property.
- Dumps refuse tubs in compactor trucks.
- Washes and cleans refuse equipment.
- Keeps the loading area in the street clean and free of litter.
- Operates truck and refuse collection equipment.
- Performs other duties as required by the City.
- Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions necessary to properly execute refuse collection.
- Some knowledge of refuse collection equipment and practices.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public in the course of the work.
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly and to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform sustained and heavy manual labor for long periods of time under varying weather conditions.
