General Description This position performs labor to assist with water and sewer, road repairs, snow removal and other assignments to assist with overall department operations. Regular hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday however, there will be the occasional requirement of working after hours, weekends and holidays
This is a Rochester Hills, GELC Local 1984 job posting. Essential Functions The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be required and assigned. Performs general road maintenance and related activities including flagging traffic, mowing, temporary and permanent asphalt surface repairs, patching holes, sawing pavement, concrete repair and pouring, manhole repairs, assists with sign repair and installation, clearing brush, vegetation control, sweeping, routing and sealing road cracks, and removing dead animals and trash.
Performs maintenance on storm sewer including ditching, culvert repair, replacements and catch basin rebuild, repair. Installs water taps and perform water main repairs. Assists Meter Technician with Installs and repairs of water meters.
Performs sewer line maintenance and repairs. Assists with hydrant and valve maintenance and replacement. Performs routine grounds maintenance including lawn mowing, weed whipping, lawn repair, and hydro-seeding.
Operates lawn equipment including mowers, weed trimmers, snow blowers, hand tools, and power tools for assigned areas. Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventive maintenance or repair on equipment. Performs snow removal using a variety of tools, equipment, and vehicles not requiring a Commercial Driver's License.
Reports to work for on-call after hours needs, as assigned. Other duties as assigned. Required Minimum Qualifications/Desirable Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma/equivalent.
Two (2) years of grounds maintenance, equipment operation, or related labor experience. Valid Michigan Driver's License with no more than four (4) points currently on record. DOT Physical/Medical Card.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS CDL Class A with N endorsement and no restriction from airbrakes. Duties are performed daily both indoors and outdoors under all weather conditions and include exposure to inclement weather, noise, heavy traffic conditions, and exhaust fumes.
