What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Control Officer position at City of Robinson?

The Robinson Police Department is seeking a full-time Animal Control Officer to protect the city’s residents from stray, vicious, or diseased animals and enforce animal and rabies control and licensing permit regulations within the municipality. Robinson contracts with the City of Waco for all sheltering. Essential job functions include:

  • Patrols to pick up stray and unlicensed animals
  • Enforces ordinances governing animal and rabies control
  • Enforces livestock regulations
  • Ensures that licensing requirements for pet shops and breeders are met
  • Answers questions regarding licensing and disposal of animals
  • Investigates complaints about animals
  • Picks up and handles disposal of dead animals
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned

This position reports to the CID Lieutenant and has regular contact with other City employees, the Waco Animal Shelter, and the general public. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and a valid Texas drivers license. An Animal Control Officer certification is preferred, but not required.
