The City of Roanoke is seeking a Recreation Assistant with Community Recreation to perform responsible work in facility supervision during youth, adult, and senior recreation programs and facility rentals. Requires the knowledge and desire to work with the community. Must have the ability to build and maximize neighborhood and community relations and utilize effective communication (both orally and in writing). Duties may include collecting registration documents, light food preparation, light household cleaning, and completing assignments on computer. Minimum requirements include any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and possession of valid driver's permit issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Standard First Aid and CPR preferred. Hours will vary depending upon program and rental schedules; includes days, evenings, and weekends.

This position's exemption status varies.Requires knowledge of youth development and community activities including but not limited to: fitness and movement, art,nature study, crafts and be able to assist children with homework assignments. Must have the ability to develop new and creative programs, build and maximize neighborhood and community relations, and utilize effective communication (both orally and in writing). May have to collect registration documents, write receipts, make deposits and complete assignments on computer.Minimum requirements include any combination of education and experience equivalent to high school graduation and one year experience in a day-care or after-school setting. Certifications required upon request -ARC Standard First Aid and CPR.Salary : $15 - $16
