The position is covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between Teamsters Local 58 and the City of Ridgefield.



POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Administrative Coordinator supports the efficient operation of the Public Works Department by overseeing administrative workflows, providing specialized support for Utilities and Operations divisions of the department, and serving as the primary point of contact for employees from other departments and the public.

 

The Administrative Coordinator works independently with minimal supervision in performing the following duties:

  • Acts as the first point of contact for the public, including greeting walk-in customers, answering phone calls and assisting city employees from inside and outside the Public Works Department.
  • Acting as a system administrator to various specialized software including asset management, maintaining department records, and performing other routine and non-routine administrative services.
  • Preparing and processing work orders received from the public and other City departments.
  • Processing transactions for the Ridgefield cemetery.
  • Serving as Clerk to the Parks Board.

 

Administrative work is performed in a moderately noisy office with regular interruptions during the day.

 

WORK HOURS:

Public Works Coordinator is a regular, three-quarter time, non-exempt position. The regular work schedule is somewhat flexible and will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

 

The Coordinator also attends Ridgefield Parks Board meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30PM. On occasion, working outside of normal working hours is necessary to provide support in department emergency response events.



QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Any combination of experience and education which provides the applicant with the level of required knowledge and abilities may be considered.

 

The City is seeking an experienced and professional Administrative Coordinator with:

  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent; 
  2. Experience:  Two years of experience involving significant interaction with the general public; experience with a local government entity and/or Public Works is preferred;
  3. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures and systems and safe work practices.
  • Customer service, organizational, problem-solving and technical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with interruptions, maintain confidential information.
  • Be creative and adaptive in a changing and growing city.

The City of Ridgefield currently provides medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents. Employees contribute 10% of the medical premium which is now $179.48 per month. The City also provides life insurance at two times your annual salary, long-term disability insurance, flexible spending account options and an Employee Assistance Program.

 

Other benefits include an Employee Wellness program, voluntary life insurance, paid vacation and sick leave. Leave benefits currently include vacation accrual up to 64 hours during your first year of employment, 11 paid holidays per year, 3 additional paid floating holidays, and 6 hours accrued sick leave each month.

Enrollment in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) and the Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust Fund is automatic.
