Nature of Work

Under the general supervision of the Facility Manager and Recreation Supervisors, provides responsible supervision of the concession/cashier staff, the facility and its users; operate ice resurfacer, supervisor daily operation of arena and public skating sessions, monitor equipment, perform office duties and maintain a clean facility.

HOURS
Work morning and evening weekday shifts if available (Monday – Friday).
Work rotating shifts.
Work morning, afternoon, and evening weekend shifts (Saturday & Sunday).
Up to 19 hours per week.

Job Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Operates ice resurfacer and maintains ice.
  • Assists Facility Manager in all phases of operation, including custodial duties, basic maintenance and mechanical checks.
  • Responds to customer inquiries/concerns.
  • Performs facility opening and closing procedures.
  • Completes transactions through cash register, collects money and gives correct change. Operates credit card machine. Follows proper money handling procedures.
  • Sells arena merchandise.
  • Sharpens ice skates.
  • Works scheduled shifts; arrives on time ready to work.
  • Completes incident/accident reports and related paperwork.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of automotive, building and equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrates ability to operate motorized vehicles.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform janitorial duties.
  • Demonstrates ability to operate a cash register and accurately count money and make change.
  • Demonstrates ability to work with, and be friendly and courteous to the public.
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize problems and make decisions.
  • Demonstrates ability to work and enforce policy and procedure with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrates ability to be well organized.
  • Demonstrates ability to read, understand, and follow written directions.
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain prompt and dependable work hours and be highly reliable.
  • Demonstrates ability to understand and respect the diversity of customers and co-workers, effectively communicating with individuals whose first language may be one other than English.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate (GED).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Candidates who are 18 years of age or older.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese or other non-English language prevalent in the City of Richfield

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE
  • Must possess a valid Class D driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

The physical demands that are described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Must have the ability to:
  • Considerable exposure to cold, mechanical hazards and electrical hazards.
  • Essential functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for considerable physical activity such as standing, walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, twisting, pushing, pulling, bending, stopping, squatting, and lifting materials and supplies ranging from 20-60 lbs.
  • Must have physical ability to operate ice resurfacing and maintenance equipment.
