CUSTODIAN (FULL TIME)

CUSTODIAN - Eisemann Center

JOB SUMMARY:

Under supervision, clean and perform event setups and breakdowns. Perform minor maintenance tasks in building. Night and weekend work required. Perform other related work as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Operate vacuum cleaner and buffer. Strip and finish floors. Operate carpet and furniture shampoo machine. Operate steam-cleaning machine. Change vacuum belts and pads on both buffer and floor maintainer. Clean equipment. Perform minor servicing of equipment. Dust all areas of buildings and furniture. Make minor building repairs. Change light bulbs. Perform minor painting as needed. Set up tables, chairs, dance floors, stages, risers and other various meeting room equipment; assists in breakdowns and storage of equipment including tables, chairs, risers, and various meeting room equipment. Understand and correctly implement verbal and written job instructions and written product warning labels. Communicate courteously and effectively with other city employees, officials, and the public. Use good judgment to work safely and use equipment properly. Lift and carry up to 70 pounds of equipment and supplies. Pull, push, and/or drag up to 100 pounds of meeting room equipment. Stand, walk, twist, and/or stoop for extended periods of time while making repairs and setting up meeting room equipment. Work in personnel lift to change change light bulbs and wash windows at heights up to forty feet. Drive to obtain supplies when needed. Some exposure to dust, fumes, and hazardous cleaning chemicals, using appropriate safety precautions and equipment. Work effectively as team member. Night and weekend work is required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES, AND/OR LICENSES:

Completion of eleventh grade required; High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred. Texas Drivers License, Class C preferred.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:

Must have knowledge of all types of cleaning chemicals, floor finishes and their application. Experience required in making minor building repairs and in painting. Must be able to communicate courteously and effectively with other city employees and the public.
