The Maintenance and Operations Fleet Division is seeking a Maintenance Helper to work up to 17.5 hours per week to assist in transport of fleet vehicles between City and vendor locations. Other responsibilities include picking up parts at various shops, cleaning the shop, assisting with stocking inventory and taking inventory counts.
This is a temporary, non-benefited, part-time position up to 17.5 hours per week between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday (not to exceed 233 hours per quarter and 1039 hours in the FY). There are no benefits offered with this position.
Examples of Essential Functions:
- Transport vehicles between fleet, other City locations, and outside vendors.
- Pick-up and delivery of parts to fleet shop and/or other City locations.
- Maintenance and cleaning of fleet shop including sweeping shop floors, emptying trash, etc...
- Assist with stocking inventory and counts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
Proper procedures used in the maintenance and cleaning of the fleet shop.
Work Experience:
Previous experience in inventory control is desired.
License/Certificate: Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record. A class M is desired.

Environment: Outdoor field environment; travel from site to site; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, solvents, potentially hazardous chemicals, gases, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery or uneven surfaces and rough terrain.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amount of weight; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
This position is exempt from the Civil Service System.
