The City of Reed City is seeking a Wastewater Operator for our Class-A treatment facility. This position is full time, day shift hourly, working every third weekend on a rotation schedule with two other full-time operators. Operators perform technical, skilled and semi-skilled labor work in and around the treatment facility, maintaining and repairing equipment associated with wastewater treatment. This position also includes rotations in our laboratory performing routine wastewater testing.
Requirements:
· Minimum of a High School diploma with basic understanding biology and chemistry.
· Experience as an operator in a wastewater treatment facility, or successful completion of a water treatment program is preferred.
· Basic knowledge of computer operations.
· A Michigan Class D Wastewater license is preferred.
· Ability to work weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule, and ability to respond to after-hours alarms.
· Be self-motivated and be able to work with limited supervision at times.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to climb steps and ladders, write legibly in logs and reports, bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to pass a standard physical and drug screen.
