Under general supervision of the Assistant Green Spaces Superintendent, performs work in maintaining parks and similar facilities in the City; supervises seasonal crew during spring/summer/fall.

Customer Service - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, employees, staff, and representatives of other agencies and the public in a courteous manner.
Technical Understanding -- Knowledge of techniques and practices in parks operation and maintenance. Knowledge of turf care, plantings, and irrigation. Knowledge of safety practices in maintenance work. Ability to perform routine mathematical processes. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials and the park users.

Physical Requirements
The essential functions require sustained periods of sitting and standing. The job requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, ride, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, reach, grasp, push, pull and perform similar body movements, with the necessity to carry and lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Hand/eye/foot coordination adequate to operate light and medium equipment, tools and a vehicle. Ability to talk and hear in person and by telephone and a two-way radio, ability to hear malfunctions of equipment. Ability to see and read instructions, hazardous warnings, manuals, gages, regulations and figures on a computer screen.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs operations in maintaining parks, green belts, cemetery and similar facilities including mowing and caring for grass;
- Maintains landscaping and irrigation;
- Operation, maintenance and repair of courts, playgrounds, shelters, trails, turf and grounds;
- Cleaning and maintenance of restrooms and buildings in the parks and similar facilities, including minor plumbing and electrical work;
- Prepares parks for special events such as Music in the Park, reunions and other events;
- Gathers and removes trash;
- Performs some tree trimming, paints facilities, installs and maintains fences;
- Performs carpentry work for signs and benches;
- Performs routine maintenance and servicing of motorized equipment;
- Assists at the cemetery with internment, snow removal and tree removal;
- Assist other departments as needed with snow removal;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
