The Community Services Department is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and service-driven professional to serve as the Community Services Coordinator for the RC Community Center. This position oversees the daily operations of the facility, including youth and family services, community programming, facility rentals, and specialized onsite amenities. A primary responsibility is the strategic management and promotion of the facility rental program to maximize community use and generate revenue alongside classes and other programming opportunities. The Coordinator also provides leadership to a team of part-time staff, fostering a collaborative, safe, and customer-focused environment while creating meaningful experiences that strengthen connections and enhance the quality of life for Rancho Cucamonga residents.

The Community Services Department is responsible for providing enriching, fun, and meaningful opportunities for the community to come together. The department operates the Epicenter Sports Complex, RC Community Center, RC Sports Center, Victoria Gardens Cultural Center, Goldy S. Lewis Community Center, and James L. Brulte Senior Center. In addition to the listed facilities above, more than 30 different parks are open to the community for passive use.

You’ll Be Responsible For

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING HERE AT TEAM RC

Staff Supervision & Leadership

  • Overseeing, scheduling, supervising, and mentoring part-time staff, including recruitment, training, evaluation, and fostering a collaborative, positive work environment.
  • Leading a team of part-time staff to ensure adherence to safety protocols and the delivery of exceptional customer service.

Facility Operations & Maintenance

  • Overseeing the daily physical operations of the RC Community Center to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • Coordinating routine facility maintenance, repairs, and setups with public works or external contractors.
  • Managing inventory, ordering facility and office supplies, and overseeing the operations of the on-site snack shop.

Programming, Rentals & Contract Classes

  • Planning, coordinating, and evaluating recreational classes, camps, workshops, youth/family programs, community activities, and special events to ensure they align with community needs.
  • Managing the facility rental calendar, serving as the primary point of contact for private events, community groups, and organizational meetings, ensuring all activities are properly staffed and equipped.
  • Coordinating onsite contract classes, which includes preparing and submitting seasonal class proposals, reviewing instructor requests, managing room allocations, and conducting quality evaluations.

Marketing & Promotion

  • Inputting and maintaining program information in the Grapevine and other promotional outlets.
  • Collaborating with the marketing team to promote programs and services through website updates, social media content, newsletters, and promotional materials.

Administration, Partnerships & Finance

  • Developing, monitoring, and maintaining the facility's annual operating budget, including preparing recommendations for personnel, equipment, and supplies.
  • Actively managing and optimizing revenue streams, including rental fees, class registrations, and snack shop sales.
  • Preparing and compiling reports regarding program participation, attendance, revenues, and expenses.
  • Managing and maintaining accurate files, data, and contractual agreements, including MOUs, instructor/vendor agreements, and community partnerships, to ensure compliance and positive relationships.
  • Utilizing ActiveNet facility booking software to seamlessly manage classes, camps, workshops, events, and facility allocations.

This individual will possess a unique blend of business acumen and people-first leadership, with a proven track record of supervising, training, and mentoring part-time staff to deliver exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is a strategic problem solver who can seamlessly shift from administrative duties—such as managing operating budgets, optimizing rental revenue, and drafting vendor MOUs—to hands-on facility logistics, including routine facility operations. With exceptional communication skills, the candidate will excel at building positive partnerships with contract instructors, local organizations, and community members alike, ensuring the RC Community Center remains a safe, vibrant, and welcoming hub for all.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED

Education And/or Experience

Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree with major coursework in recreation or a related field and two years of experience in the implementation of cultural and recreation programs or activities OR any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.

Substitution: A total of four years of professional-level experience in recreation or related field and two years of experience in the implementation of cultural and recreation programs or activities may substitute for the bachelor’s degree requirement.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and programs common to the field of recreation and leisure services; methods for identifying community recreation needs. Ability to effectively work with people having varied socio-economic standings; prepare and present concise written and oral reports; promote recreation and leisure programs; supervise aides and volunteers.

Special Requirements

Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

First Aid and CPR certification required within 60 days of employment.
