Rink Attendant

The Rink Attendant is responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment at the Central Park warming house and skating rinks during the winter season. This temporary, part-time position ensures that facilities are clean, orderly, and operated in accordance with City rules and safety standards. Weather permitting, the warming house is expected to open Friday, December 18, 2026, and will remain open for approximately ten (10) weeks. 

Typical warming house hours are:

• Weekdays: 3:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
• Saturdays: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
• Sundays: 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
• Winter break/holidays: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. (weather dependent)

• Must be at least 16 years of age by Thursday, December 3, 2026.
• Must pass a criminal background check.

Desired Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a rink attendant or in a similar recreational facility role.
• Training and/or certification in First Aid.

**NOTE** All individuals that are hired must be able to attend the MANDATORY orientation on Thursday, December 3, 2026, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

• Supervise the rink, warming house, and surrounding grounds, prioritizing patron safety.
• Enforce City rules, regulations, and policies.
• Clear snow from rinks, walkways, and doorways; ensure surfaces remain free of ice and hazards.
• Report safety concerns, maintenance issues, or unusual conditions promptly to the Parks Lead Maintenance Worker.
• Maintain cleanliness of the warming house, including sweeping, mopping, and debris removal.
• Move hockey nets off rinks and away from gate openings as required.
• Maintain accurate records using daily log sheets to communicate information to staff.
• Properly secure and store equipment, tools, and shovels at the end of each shift.
• Operate rink lights based on weather and time of day.
• Assist with rink scheduling as directed.
• Safeguard facility keys and ensure the warming house and grounds are secured before leaving.

• Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions in English.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with limited supervision.
• Ability to work effectively with the public, supervisors, and coworkers.
• Ability to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ability to work outdoors in cold and changing weather conditions.
